Working Waterfront Festival
One of the better events in New Bedford is the Working Waterfront Festival. Since New Bedford brings in the highest value of seafood landed of any port in the US, you can guess that there are many fishing boats. There are draggers, scallopers, clam boats, lobster boats and there are many open for tours during the fesival. There are also tugs, Coast Guard boats, and the oldest fishing boat in the harbor - the schooner Ernestina (an 1894 cod fishing boat - a saltbanker). There are musical groups, artists, authors, nautical vendors and a lot of seafood in the food tent.

Ernestina started cod fishing in 1894 so she is the oldest fishing boat in the harbor - if not all of New England. As you can see, she had the forward half redone and is awaiting funds to finish the aft section.
This beautiful old tug was open for tours.
A guy was putting some links on this scallop dredge.
Mass Maritime brought down a training boat…
This nice bronze is on the waterfront.
One of the two CG boats - this one from Woods Hole.
Some of the local fish were on display - here are cod, haddock, and monkfish. Scallops ara a big money crop from this area.
People could try their hand at rowing.
